Informed, Community-based Milk Sharing Program
At The Birthstone Center, we believe every baby deserves access to safe, nourishing human milk. Our Informed, Community-based Milk Sharing Program connects families who have surplus milk with those in need who would not otherwise be able to access donor milk from a formal bank, guided by informed consent for donor and recipient.
Families can donate or receive milk by contacting us directly. We also offer walk-in milk pick-up every Wednesday from 12–2 PM.
Our program provides education, support, and resources to ensure milk sharing is as safe as possible, ethical, and rooted in the needs of our community. By participating, families foster connection, compassion, and mutual support across Appalachia, helping infants thrive when access to their parent’s milk is limited.
