Victoria Long, Practice Manager
Birth and Postpartum Doula serving Macon, Jackson, Swain Counties and the
surrounding areas.
My passion for supporting families through the perinatal phase began with the birth of my first baby. That experience was physically and emotionally challenging: a painful pregnancy, an unplanned C-section where my doula made a huge difference in reducing my birth trauma and helping support my husband and me during my birth. I had a slow recovery, and postpartum anxiety and depression, everything felt chaotic, and I didn’t realize how much help I needed until I was in the thick of it. My mother-in-law became my lifeline, driving in from the next town and juggling work just to help me make it to appointments.
Inspired by my doula, and by my best friend who asked me to support her birth during COVID, I trained with DONA and later became certified with The VBAC Link. Supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum has been deeply rewarding, and I feel honored to walk alongside families during these transitions.
After my second baby, I learned to love postpartum care. With my second son, I had built my community and knew what support I would need from the start. That postpartum period was healing and even joyful, and I was grateful not to experience PPD that time. When my baby was diagnosed with a severe tongue tie, I also discovered how essential bodywork is.
Now, as the Practice Manager of Birthstone Breastfeeding and Wellness Center, I love watching families grow and thrive with the support of our services, whether it’s birth support, lactation care, bodywork, doula support, or simply a listening ear.
As a birth doula, I support families in preparing for labor, understanding their options, and feeling confident going into their birth. During labor, I provide continuous emotional, physical, and informational support so families feel grounded, supported, and heard.
As a postpartum doula, I help lighten the load by preparing meals, folding laundry, holding your baby while you rest, or simply listening as you process your birth. I specialize in supporting C-section recovery, cloth diapering, Elimination Communication, and breast pump education. Postpartum support doesn’t fix everything, but it can make the early days of parenthood a whole lot gentler.
Another reason I love this work is that it also gives me the flexibility to homeschool my children. In my free time, I love baking, spending time outdoors, and trying to garden, even if I have a bit of a black thumb.
