Rachel Timan
Postpartum Doula Serving families within WNC and parts of North Georgia

I am a DONA Certified Postpartum Doula as of 2024, but my journey of helping families started long before that!

I started around the age of 10, when I began to help my mom with her cleaning business. For the next 6 years of working together and independently, I learned a love for leaving a home better than when I found it. I eventually continued that on my own for another 6 years. Alongside cleaning homes, I worked at a daycare in the baby room: taking care of children aged 3 months to 2 years old. Childcare came naturally to me, thanks to my practice with my nieces and nephews.

Having been the fourth out of five kids, my older siblings got a head start on their own families (I currently have 13 Nieces and nephews and counting). Watching my siblings take on parenthood was the change that turned my job into my passion; I admired my older siblings when they became parents, but I didn't want them to face all the struggles that came with it on their own. I loved going to their house and giving them a head start on their day, doing everything I could to make hanging out feel like a warm hug. I would drink coffee with my sister and talk through her joys and fears while folding a mountain of laundry, watch the six kids so she could reset with a nap, and spend quality time with her while tidying the kitchen. I loved that I was able to support my sisters, and that I could see the positive effect it had on their spouses. I want to be able to do the same for those that don’t already have that support system in place, and for those that can benefit from some intentional company.

The postpartum season is a beautiful and a natural chapter of life, full of constant growth, changes, and adjustments that take place within each family. Having help can give you that space and time that you need to adjust, temporarily outsourcing the mundane so you can focus and create space for the new.

As your Postpartum doula, I can help with tidying up, doing laundry, dishes, food prep/cooking and caring for the baby so you can attend to your needs. I am here for you in the way that you need, even if it is just to be a listening ear, talking through the unknown, or educating and learning with you. This is a big transition! Tough moments are bound to come with the new terrain, but I can promise that you will have my support to make those hard times more manageable. Having an extra set of (non-biased) hands to keep the house and family going while you adjust to this big change. Having support, self confidence and peace is what I wish for all families. If you ever need help, here I am!
