Gwen Palmer, CBS
DONA-Trained Birth Doula
Bridging the Gap Between Hospital Safety and Holistic Care.
Gwen is a DONA-trained Birth Doula and Certified Breastfeeding Specialist (CBS) serving families in Western North Carolina. With nearly a decade of experience, she specializes in hospital-based support, bridging the gap between medical policy and personal autonomy.

Her passion for this work is deeply personal. As a mother who has navigated five of her own Cesarean births, she knows firsthand that surgical births can be gentle, intimate, and empowering. She places a specific focus on Cesarean birth support, ensuring that weather a surgery is planned or unexpected the birthing parent feels seen, informed, and connected to their baby.

She is seeking an A.S. in Nutrition and Dietetics and has studied with the Asheville-based Chestnut School of Herbalism, allowing her to support the whole person-physically, nutritionally, and emotionally. She is also trained in the Rebozo method for comfort and positioning.

Beyond her professional credentials, Gwen brings a unique medical fluency to the birth team. Her journey raising a son with Williams Syndrome and complex cardiac needs has made her an expert in high-stakes medical environments. She understands the hospital language and knows how to help families advocate with eh unwavering clarity and compassion.
